Nancy O'Dell's debut work in the industry of broadcast was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later worked as morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston on how Charleston police handled DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. The investigation resulted a stricter directive for state authorities.
